The Ann Arbor Thrift Shop provides emergency social service aid through the sale of donated gently used clothing, housewares and other items. Low cost items are available for purchase. Ann Arbor residents with an emergency need must contact a caseworker at a Social Services agency. If you do not have a caseworker, please contact United Way at 211 for a referral.
Ann Arbor residents may qualify for free clothing voucher(s), but a phone referral from a Social Services agency is required.

House by the Side of the Road’s purpose is to provide adequate clothing and small household items at no charge to children and adults. These services are free to clients with limited funds for clothing, bedding, and other household essentials. People come in after family breakup, job loss, fire, or prolonged illness. We also serve those who are homeless, those who are just reentering society from prison, people with mental health issues, recent immigrants, and migrant workers.
The Kiwanis Center sells items in the following categories: indoor, outdoor, and business furniture, sports & exercise, toys, kitchen & household, recreation, decorating, collecting, seasonal, electronics, books, jewelry, lamps, luggage, office supplies, dishes, and clothing.
The mission is to support local organizations for anyone experiencing homelessness by providing clothing, shoes, and essentials at no cost. Anyone can purchase thrifted items from the Thrift Depot helping to support this mission.
Clothing Closet provided amenities & clothing for children and youth in need, enrolled in the Ypsilanti Community School District may use the Clothes Closet up to two times each school year. To access the "Clothes Closet" you will need a referral.
